As of July 2008
I'm still on my journey with clay and I have a long
long way to go. Here are some ceramic works in progress (some of this greenware has been bisqued or is in process of being bisqued since
I uploaded these pics. Check back in August to see these images when fully glazed. (provided that all
survive the transport back and forth to Alex, VA to use a kiln!)
Every time I make a
teapot I learn something new especially
about how to improve the pouring, the visual beauty, the handling comfort, etc. Thank goodness for a
book entitled "The Teapot Book" by Steve Woodhead which points out the elements of which
are crucial to making a good teapot.
(I wish I read it before I messed up about 5 nice sculptured
lided teapots - live & learn !) But I can say at
this stage in my journey with clay, I have finally gotten a
better feel for getting my walls even and not thick at the bottom. My patience is getting better too - I've learned
to wait on the various stages in the creating process so
I don't ruin my work - I learned the hardway about the memory of clay!
At the very bottom, I have
also included some follow-up images of works that are now glazed this has since been glazed.
Enjoy and feel free to offer to send me your comments!
